Director of Philanthropy

Position Overview
The Director of Philanthropy (DOP) personally represents FOCUS and ignites benefactors and potential benefactors to passion and action in support of our work. The DOP maintains a portfolio of FOCUS Fund benefactors; he/she conducts discovery, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of FOCUS Fund benefactors and potential benefactors. The DOP will also be prepared to assume responsibility for the FOCUS Local Giving effort as they are developed. This position requires experience in development, excellent written and verbal communication skills and a desire to grow in understanding of the fund development field. Additionally, this position requires the ability to work as an effective team member in a fast-paced, result-driven environment. Other responsibilities include building the relationship between the Mission Development Department and other areas of FOCUS including Collegiate Outreach, Mission Communications, etc.; supporting other efforts within the Mission Development Department; and other duties that further relationships between FOCUS, students, benefactors and other constituents.
Position Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains a portfolio of 200 FOCUS Fund potential benefactors (i.e. potential benefactors with the capacity to give between $2,500 - $500,000 annually). Makes personal gift solicitations of these prospects and directs a solicitation to all prospects in the portfolio for the FOCUS Fund. Records all contact with potential benefactors in the FOCUS constituent database
- Shares the mission of FOCUS and the joy of the Catholic faith with benefactors in order to encourage their own relationship with Christ
- Schedules and conducts face-to-face benefactor visits; Expects to travel 12-15 days per month, and 8-10 nights per month
- Develops and implements strategy and tactics regarding the development system. Leads in the discovery, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of gift.
- Works in collaboration with other Development Officers on relationships with potential key benefactors
- Meets regularly with supervisor and attends all appropriate meetings within the Mission Development Department and the Denver Support Center
- Provides strong, creative and energetic leadership within the Mission Development Department and FOCUS as an organization; supports the mission of FOCUS on college campus and works selflessly to help the mission attain identified success factors

Fiscal Year Goals
- Conducts 240 - 360 face-to-face benefactor visits each year (20 - 30/month)

Compensation
The DOP position is compensated within the guidelines of FOCUS’s funding model. Total compensation will be highly competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Systems Architect
Department: Technology Services

Role
The Systems Architect’s role, is to strategically design and implement in-house information systems and networked software architectures that support core organizational functions, and assure their high availability. This individual will gain organizational commitment from the Steering Committee for all systems and software plans, as well as evaluate and select all technologies required to complete those plans. In addition, the Systems Architect provides technical leadership across the organization, from strategic decision making down to the project planning level.
Responsibilities
Strategy, Planning & Execution
- Design and implement long-term strategic goals and short-term tactical plans for managing and maintaining corporate systems and software.
- Ensure that proposed and existing systems architectures are aligned with FOCUS goals and objectives.
- Provide architectural expertise, direction, and assistance to all FOCUS software development teams.
- Develop, document, and communicate plans for investing in systems architecture, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities.
- Conduct research on emerging technologies in support of systems development efforts, and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and systems flexibility.
- Architect, develop and execute all solutions for the infrastructure, applications and data sides of the business using insourced and outsourced teams.
Acquisition & Deployment
- Where applicable, design, develop, and oversee implementation of end-to-end integrated systems.
- Document the existing systems architecture and technology portfolio; make recommendations for improvements and/or alternatives.
- Review new and existing systems design projects and procurement or outsourcing plans for compliance with standards and architectural plans.
Operational Management
- Confer with end-users and senior management to define business requirements for complex systems and infrastructure development.
- Model business and systems processes based on findings through use case scenarios, workflow diagrams, and data models.
- Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance. Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement.
- Develop and manage a systems capacity plan.
- Develop, document, communicate, and enforce a policy for standardizing systems and software as necessary.

Position Requirements
Formal Education & Certification
- College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science/engineering or information systems, or applicable work experience.

Executive Administrative Assistant

The Executive Administrative Assistant will need to handle a wide range of administrative and executive support related tasks, and must be able to work both with a team and independently with little supervision. Position Duties
The Executive Administrative Assistant will:
- Be responsible for calendar management, requiring interaction with both internal and external executives and assistants, as well as donors, to coordinate a variety of executive meetings.
- Answer phone calls and voicemails from field staff, donors and business associates on behalf of Executives while maintaining a professional and friendly attitude to sustain good relationships.
- Communicate with multiple departments to coordinate travel schedules in order to maximize each trip’s value to FOCUS.
- Arrange travel schedule by finding cost effective alternatives when possible, reserving and planning all trips for the Executive team as needed.
- Assist with the tasks related to setting up meetings, materials and travel.
- Check mail and help in preparing outgoing mail on behalf of the Executives.

FOCUS Collegiate Outreach Leadership
Department: Collegiate Outreach

Position Summary
The FOCUS Collegiate Outreach organization offers leadership opportunities at the campus and regional level.
- A Team Director leads a campus program which will bring students into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church, inspire and equip them for a lifetime of Christ-centered evangelization, discipleship and friendship, in which they lead others to do the same. He/she works provides direction and leadership to a team of Campus Missionaries, and works in close partnership with the Campus Chaplain and his staff.
- Regional Directors of Collegiate Outreach provide leadership and direction to a group of campus programs within a geographic region. This role demands a deep personal investment in the development of Team Directors and missionaries, providing vision and encouragement to successfully live out the movement on campus.
FOCUS typically develops Team Directors and regional leaders internally, because these roles require a deep understanding of our approach to evangelization, along with demonstrated leadership success in a Church environment. However, some well-qualified external candidates who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and evangelization results may be a good fit for these roles.

Digital Campus Missionary
Department: FOCUS Equip

Position Summary
The Digital Campus is a team of missionaries who serve students on non-FOCUS campuses by helping them to establish Bible studies, discipleship, and utilize FOCUS resources. Each missionary uses video chat programs to meet with 10-15 students on a weekly or semiweekly basis. In addition, each missionary will have an additional role based on their personal experience and talents that range from videos, graphic designs, Bible studies, and other written works. The Digital Campus is located at FOCUS' Support Center in Golden, Colorado.
Position Duties
- Working as a team to develop strategies to reach and train college students on non-FOCUS campuses
- Coaching students on non-FOCUS campuses via video conferencing on how to evangelize through small group Bible studies and discipleship
- Training students to use FOCUS resources

Compensation
Each missionary is responsible for fundraising their own salary. FOCUS will train all missionaries in fundraising at New Staff Training from June 1-July 6. Each Wednesday morning of the semester is also dedicated to fundraising efforts.

Web Content Specialist

The FOCUS Content Manager would be responsible for planning, writing, organizing, leveraging and publishing content on all FOCUS websites. Mission Development Events Coordinator

FOCUS is seeking a qualified person to coordinate events for Mission Development. These events help benefactors realize the impact of their partnership and provide an opportunity for them to discover the New Evangelization and their role within it. Events may include: special benefactor events at SEEK/SLS (National Conference), large receptions style events, REACH New Evangelization Prayer Breakfasts, and Donor Pilgrimages. New Staff Training Coordinator

Background on the Formation Department:
In cooperation with the grace of God and in the context of the Church and in relationship to her mission, the Formation Department strives to advance all of FOCUS’ formation and training goals. Through human, spiritual, intellectual, and apostolic formation we cooperate with the Holy Spirit to help our missionaries and others to know Christ Jesus, to be conformed to him, to observe all that he has commanded, and to grow in relationship to him within his Church. Through training we instruct our missionaries that they might go and make disciples of all nations by inspiring and equipping college students for lifelong Catholic mission.
Background on New Staff Training:
FOCUS New Staff Training (NST) is a critical time of formation and training for our missionaries before they head to college campuses to share the Gospel with students. NST takes place over the course of 5-6 weeks each summer. All first- and second-year missionaries attend NST, and all third-year missionaries and many other veteran staff have leadership roles at NST. NST is FOCUS’ single largest formation and training endeavor. The primary goal of NST is to help form missionaries in the image of Christ who will go on as faithful Catholics to spiritually multiply wherever life takes them, beginning with the college campus. We strive to form and train the missionaries in these areas of formation: human (character), spiritual, intellectual, and apostolic (both mission-specific and general professional).
Position responsibilities include:
- Coordinating the curriculum for NST
- Inviting teachers and chaplains to attend and participate at NST
- Working with other departments within FOCUS to place missionary leaders at NST
- Working with the Events team at NST to schedule the event, book rooms, etc.
- Coordinating a number of small trainings that take place within NST
- Arriving at NST early to prep for the event
- Running the 6-week event on the ground

Learning Management System Project Lead
Department: Formation

The Learning Management System (LMS) will function as an online software application, giving us a dynamic and interactive way to administer, document, track, and report on ongoing training and formation for staff, alumni, students, donors, and perhaps eventually others in the general public as well. Through it we will be able to deploy dynamic video, audio, and written content on a year-round basis.
Position responsibilities include:
- Working with FOCUS’ IT department to select a Learning Management System that achieves our goals
- Working with FOCUS’ Curriculum department to develop and upload video, audio, and written content to the LMS on a year-round basis
- Working with subject matter experts in other departments to develop content to help them achieve their training goals
- Developing pre- and post-assessment quizzes for the lessons that test whether the participants have understood the content
- Working with relevant parties to make the LMS as engaging and winsome as possible for learners
- Helping to sequence the lessons within FOCUS’ overall plan for formation and training

The event specialist is a coordinator in the vision, development, programming and execution of our national conferences (up to 9000 attendees), Leadership Summits (up to 3000 attendees) and New Staff Training. Additionally, the role would coordinate and execute many smaller events for the organization throughout the year (the department plans 15-20 annually), as well as advise internally about events, vendor contracts and payments. The Events Department within FOCUS is a specialist in transforming ordinary events into formational opportunities to strongly boost FOCUS’ work on campus.

Network Engineer

Position Summary
The Network Engineer’s role is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organization. In addition, the Network Engineer will participate with the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also analyze and resolve network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.

The Help Desk Technician’s role is to ensure proper computer operation so that end users can be effective in the mission of FOCUS. This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving help requests from FOCUS staff minimizing lost or idle time of the mission. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic and help request tracking tools, as well as require that the individual give in-person, hands-on help at the desktop level.

FOCUS Equip helps further the mission of FOCUS by providing quality resources and tools that missionaries and students can use on campus as well as the adaptation of these materials for use in a parish setting. The FOCUS Equip Curriculum Specialist would help to write and provide this content to these various audiences while also helping to organize and promote the materials through FOCUSEquip.org and the FOCUS Equip Mobile Application.

Digital Media Intern

The Digital Media Intern will assist the FOCUS Equip and web department with several duties which will range from various video tasks, management of FOCUS Youtube pages, FOCUS Equip social media assistance, and other tasks within the FOCUS equip and web department. The Digital Media Internship will be a summer position in accordance with the Intern’s summer semester. The position will be located at FOCUS' Support Center in Golden, Colorado.
