What do I write about?
The prompt for this year’s blog contest is:
“We cannot keep ourselves shut up in parishes, in our communities, in our parish or diocesan institutions, when so many people are waiting for the Gospel! To go out as ones sent—it is not enough simply to open the door in welcome because they come, but we must go out through that door to seek and meet the people.” —Pope Francis, World Youth Day, July 27, 2013
How have you witnessed the Holy Father’s call lived out on your campus? Who, in your life, has “gone out as one sent,” and how have they inspired you to do the same?
The FOCUS SLS 2014 Blog Contest, sponsored by the Order of Malta, is looking for 500-1000 word blog posts on the question above, about a person you know, by October 17th, 2013. Responses should be unique, well-written, thoughtful, and inspiring.
Click here to enter. The deadline to enter is Wednesday, October 23rd.
*Retail value of free student quad SLS 2014 registration is $399.
Check out the FOCUS blog for some examples of how to write an effective blog post.

Since the pontificates of Pope Paul VI and John Paul II, the Roman Catholic Church has been commissioned to engage and embrace the world with God's message of love once more with ‘new methods, new ardor and new expression.’ It has come to be phrased, 'the new evangelization.'
For FOCUS, this means meeting college students across the nation where they are and challenging them to examine the meaning and purpose of their lives. Through personal relationships and friendship, we offer college students the true peace and fulfillment they seek in the good news of Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Catholic faith, inviting them to answer His calling in their lives.
We want the FOCUS blog to be a place where our audience contributes to the conversation. We‚ve created this form as a way to reach out and hear from you. Submit an idea you have about writing a blog post for the FOCUS blog. 3.) Submit a full blog post for us to consider posting on the FOCUS blog. Thank you for your time and effort!
