Position Summary:

FOCUS is seeking a qualified person with the proven skillset to manage both events and people with a key focus on coordinating our internal training events, large conferences, and specialized smaller gatherings.    This person would be responsible for executing effective, professional, enjoyable events that reflect the mission and vision of FOCUS

Furthermore, this person should have the desire and ability to manage and coordinate other events and/or elements of events for FOCUS such as our national conferences (10,000-20,000 attendees), Leadership Summits (up to 4,000 attendees), and New Staff Training (up to 1,000 attendees) and other events that aide to further the mission of FOCUS.

The Events Department within FOCUS is a specialist in transforming ordinary events into formational opportunities to strongly boost FOCUS’ work on campus, with alumni, in parishes and with other key audiences, ultimately for the mission of Jesus Christ and His Church.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage event project efforts including overseeing progress setting strategic vision and goals, reporting on progress and results, coordinating events, managing the budget, and supervising other coordinators.
    • Ability to manager other staff members.

  • Coordinate effective, professional, enjoyable events that reflect the mission and vision of FOCUS
  • Oversee all aspects of multiple events including planning, execution, and follow-up; monitor timelines and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including registration and attendee tracking, speakers, presentation and materials support, catering options, post-event evaluations and reports.
  • Effectively communicate information with benefactors, venue staff, and Mission Development Team, both pre- and post-event
  • Occasional travel – approx. every 4-6 weeks
  • Ability to lead and participate within a team and deliver integrated solutions to drive development, execution and analysis.

  • Position Requirements:

    • Proven leader of others with the ability to coach to specific goals and development
    • 2 years of experience in Event Management or Hospitality Industry
    • Experience as a manager of staff
    • Undergraduate degree in any field; event coordination/hospitality management preferred
    • Understanding and affinity for the FOCUS vision and the teachings of the Catholic Church
    • Proven achiever who sets high personal standards and can demonstrate examples of initiative and problem solving in past positions
    • Strong customer service attitude
    • Microsoft Office Suite, including: Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects at a time
    • Demonstrated knowledge in contract negotiation skills, budget tracking ability, event protocol, event/hospitality industry standards and audio/visual production knowledge
    • The ability to interact with team in a fast paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining responsive and efficient with a high level of professionalism and joy

    Compensation

    • Compensation for this position will be based on experience.
