Where I serve

God has called me to serve college students at Georgia Southern University. Georgia Southern University is located in a small college town called Statesboro, Georgia. GSU is home to about 20,000 students longing to be loved on by our Lord.

You'll typically find me hanging out at the cafe, playing sports, or high-fiving people around campus. I have a pretty cool story about how Jesus has changed my life -- I think you should hear it sometime! Come find me and I'd love to share it with you. :)

My Story

Originally from Colombia, I moved to the United States when I was only 8 years old. I grew up in a practicing Catholic family. Well, my definition of practicing Catholic then meant simply going to mass every Sunday. During High school I attended a youth group at my home parish. To me it was just a place where I could make friends. Even then I still did not have a personal relationship with Jesus. In 2010, I went to my first mission trip to Peru with my home parish. It was one of the most impactful experience I have ever had and fell in love with mission work. During my time there I realized that the moments when I am serving God is when I find myself face to face with Him.

Later that same year, my family and I went through a series of difficult situations. I began to get very angry with God and I blame Him for all the hurt that was in my heart. I began to look for other ways to avoid all the wounds that I had. Lived a very empty life for about 4 years. That was until July 2014, when I went to Haiti for the first time. During my time there I experienced a genuine joy that I had not experience in years. A joy that could only come from God. I was again reminded of my love for mission work. God put in my heart an opportunity to be open and see Him again in His children through serving Him. It was a reminder that connected me back to my previous experience in Peru. In that moment I began to realize that I needed to change the way I was living my life. I wanted more of that joy that I now knew only came from God. When I got back from Haiti I began to get more involved in campus ministry at the University of Miami as well as with FOCUS. I wanted to learn more and change how i was living. I was thirsting for Christ-centered friendships. God put a desire in my heart to serve Him through mission work. As soon as I gave God my yes he began to do amazing things in my life, He never allowed me to feel alone in anyway. Providing so many people who have taught me Gods love and brought me closer to Him. I never actually thought that I would end up doing college ministry. I know now that God has called me to give back and share my witness with students who are struggling and going through something similar to what I went through. I want to share my love for mission and how it has transformed my life. The Lord has called me to walk with students as they deepen their Faith and experience the joy that comes from living a life that radically calls us to strive for holiness and not settle for the social norm.

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I've been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I'd be honored to share this mission with you.
