Where I serve

God has called me to serve college students. This year, after a year of serving at MIT, I will serve full-time at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). I am very grateful for my team, the opportunity to be a missionary at CMU, and for all those who generously support me prayerfully and financially. I look forward to walking with students in this important part of their lives and helping them come to know and love Jesus Christ.

My Story

During high school and coming into my freshman year of college, my faith was something primarily theoretical. I believed and yet in my life, I largely did whatever I wanted, seeking academic success, power, and comfort. However, when I began competing with the brilliant students at MIT, I got a glimpse into how fragile an identity is when it’s based on such worldly things. I knew that if I failed to be intelligent enough or hardworking enough, my identity based in academic success, for example, would crumble. Fortunately, during my freshman year, a FOCUS missionary, Griffin, helped me to begin seeing how much more important God ought to be in my life: that He ought to be the core of my identity and that He ought to be shared with my peers. It took some time for this realization to deeply affect my heart, but at the beginning of sophomore year, it suddenly dawned on me that God gives a very radical call to Christians. God showed me that He wants me to give up myself completely to Him, and so at this prompting, I offered Him everything. Of course, sanctity takes more than just one promise in prayer, but as God guided me closer to Him in His Church, I could not but desire that everyone experience the same peace and joy Jesus Christ has given to me. I began to have great compassion for the loneliness and darkness of the spiritually poor who live in post-Christian cultures. Seeing the spiritual poverty around me at college, I remembered my own condition and the influence Griffin had on me. After much praying and seeking counsel, I concluded that God was calling me to bring the light of Christ to college students through FOCUS.

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I'd be honored to share this mission with you.
