Hey! My name's Drew. I'm a FOCUS missionary.
God has called me to serve college students. I have been blessed with this amazing opportunity to serve as second year FOCUS missionary in the great state of Georgia. Though I call New England my home, I am really excited now that God has called me to uproot and move down to the south. I am excited for this next chapter of my life to take place at Georgia Institute of Technology in downtown Atlanta. I have such an amazing story about how Jesus has changed my life. It's not your typical story. -- I think you would really enjoy hearing how Christ changed my life! Come find me and I'd love to share it with you. :)
As a missionary, my greatest desire is to lead all students to Christ. My life has been transformed by Jesus and I want nothing more than to bring this joy to others and introduce them to the life-changing message of the Gospel. The college campus here is the perfect place to meet students and share life with them and truly find out what they are seeking. In this message of love that Christ has given us we will find who are meant to be. I look to Jesus’ own example to find the best method of reaching the world. Each and everyday does present challenges but at the same time there are so many blessings that come alongside. The message that Christ himself told his followers is one that we all must live out and follow if we are to receive the ultimate joy that he has for all of us. The best part of this entire ministry and message is that it is an invitation. We as missionaries and brothers and sisters want to be able to share so much of what has for all of us. Before becoming a missionary there was one quote that I heard at a conference that has always stuck with me. (Read below)
“It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.” -C.S. Lewis
It was because God working through some amazing missionaries that I met while I was in college that I was able to have a amazing experiences in having a life changing moment that I will never forget. FOCUS really was really life changing for me. Seeing these people live out pure joy was so attractive. I wanted to have that kind of joy in my life and wanted to know where they got it from. Turns out it was when these people had Christ at the center of their lives joy followed. They also lead me and challenged me in ways I never thought possible. For the longest time I saw my Catholic faith as a set of rules to follow to make sure you get to heaven. I know better now. It's about a relationship, it's about having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Having a deep personal and intimate relationship with Christ really is possible. In times when I am in adoration, his voice is so clear and it is my hope to help other students to hear that voice that calls them. I feel as though through FOCUS that relationship has been shaped and refined over the years and will continue to take shape.
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I've been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I'd be honored to share this mission with you. I can promise you this, you will not regret this decision. One mission partner that I have who supports me told me that due to this work that we are doing on campus he is inspired to take his faith more seriously, he also mentioned that when he gets married he wants to raise his kids to understand their faith in a practical way like we help our students here on campus to do. Whatever support you are able to give would be greatly appreciated, it will not go unnoticed I assure you. Your support not only helps me personally but also helps the many students that my teammates and I will meet on campus. This message has already affected so many people and I cannot wait to see who will be touched next. It will be a ride that I am really excited to embark on.
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on …
