Dylan Reinhardt

Hey! My name’s Dylan. I’m a FOCUS missionary.

Where I serve

God has called me to serve college students through Digital Outreach. I am starting my 7th as a FOCUS missionary and entering into my 1st year working with the Digital Outreach. Digital Outreach strives to give campuses the resource of FOCUS missionaries who are not able to have a FOCUS team available in person.

I have a pretty cool story about how Jesus has changed my life — I think you should hear it sometime! Come find me and I’d love to share it with you.

My Story

I was born and raised Catholic and am the middle child in my family between two sisters. I joined the 80% of people that stop practicing the Catholic faith before the age of 23 during my junior year of high school. I was in this state of resistance for the next six years, as I transitioned from high school to college, pursuing worldly pleasures such as immoral dating relationships, excessive partying, and drug/alcohol abuse. During this time my mother (God bless her soul) was hard at work praying for my soul and constantly urging me to turn back to God. Despite this, being stubborn as I was, I continued down the path of destruction until I fell ill with a mysterious illness, which began after my sophomore year of college. I lost 75 pounds in just under a year, I was no longer able to eat anything with wheat, dairy, or high amounts of sugar, I lost a girlfriend of three years, and was plagued with an array of symptoms that left me traumatized and seemingly close to death on multiple occasions. After three years of searching, I was eventually diagnosed with late stage chronic Lyme disease in August 2014. The beginning of my journey back to the Catholic faith started when I attended RCIA in an attempt to win back the heart of an ex-girlfriend that I had recently lost at that time. While attending RCIA, I was so overwhelmed by feelings of love and peace that I had never experienced before that I immediately realized I had been running from the truth for the past six years.

Over the course of the next three years I continued to pursue a relationship with God, experiencing both suffering and healing, physically, mentally, and spiritually along the way. I received the Holy Eucharist for the first time in over three years on February 22nd, 2015. Despite being scared out of my mind due to my reactions to eating wheat, my health finally started improving after receiving the Holy Eucharist. I eventually got involved with FOCUS through the University of Nebraska – Lincoln where I attended a retreat designed to enter into a relationship with and better understand the Holy Spirit. During this retreat, I experienced more physical and mental healing from Lyme disease in three hours of prayer than I had in over three years of treatment. Through the experiences, suffering, and desolation that accompany a chronic and debilitating illness, I have gained a deeper dependence on God and closer relationship with Jesus than I could have ever imagined possible. I have found that joy comes from outside of our circumstances in this life and feel my healthiest and most at peace while I am sharing the love of Christ as proclaimed in the Gospels with everyone I encounter. It is my passion and life mission to spread the wisdom and share the experiences that God has allowed in my life in order to bring others into the peace, love, and truth that are only found through a relationship with the Holy Trinity. I hope that, through working as a FOCUS missionary, I am able to be an instrument in the hands of the Father to reach as many souls with His unconditional love and truth as possible.

My brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of any kind, consider it nothing but joy, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance; and let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking in nothing. James 1: 2-4

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me and becoming a part of this mission, please contact me and we will schedule an appointment. I would be honored to share this mission with you.

If you feel called to support and join in this mission, please consider joining my monthly support team. The regularity of the gifts greatly assists in budgeting and sustaining me in my work, allowing my time to be fully devoted to bringing the Gospel to students, thus allowing them to encounter the love of Jesus Christ in a profound way. Even if you do not feel as if God is calling you to give, please keep all of the FOCUS missionaries and I in your prayers as we venture on this mission for Christ. FOCUS is a 501(c)3 and all donations are tax deductible.
