Where I serve

This year I have the great privilege of serving the cadets in the United States Military Academy at West Point.  These men and women will soon become incredibly influential leaders in the military and country at large.  I am so blessed to help the cadets better experience the love of God and his glory.  Saint Irenaeus said that "the glory of God is man fully alive," and the best way to make people come alive is through a relationship with the source of all life, Jesus Christ! So my job is to invite students into deep, intimate, and personal relationships with Jesus through bible studies, one-on-one mentorship, mission trips, and on-campus outreach.

My Story

The Call

Walking into college, I was already deeply invested in my faith. I wanted to sing in the choir and teach CCD.  I wanted to love God, and help others see Him through the beauty of music.  Outside of that, I wanted to focus on theater and a future in medicine, and through those avenues, God continued to reach out to me and amaze me with His goodness.

During my freshman fall, a FOCUS missionary named Daniel reached out to me to join a bible study. In that study, we delved into a more academic study of scripture.  I was able to see connections between the old and new testaments that had never clicked before.  Then, in the spring I was asked to enter into discipleship with Daniel (that's the name of the mentorship relationship mentioned above), and he encouraged me to grow in virtue.  More than that, he invited me to make God the absolute center of my life.

For the next three years I grew in my relationship with God through the example set by discipleship with Daniel, Michael, and Bruno (FOCUS moves us around a fair amount!).  Also, I was invited on mission trips and to participate in retreats and conferences that introduced me to other young Catholics who were not only running after virtue but inviting other students to do the same.

As a senior, I realized that the obvious next step was to turn around and love college students in the same way I was loved by becoming a missionary.

The Mission

If you are still reading, then I hope you are interested in this mission too!  Calling students to grow in relationship with their creator is no small task.  So often on campus, I would see students who had better relationships with their computer screens than with their roommates. So few would truly listen, and even fewer were willing to really share their lives.  That is what I feel called to challenge people on.  By growing in relationship with Christ, we grow in community with His Church.  It just happens!

I know that I am called to run with students toward Jesus. To run with them past what they think their limits are. To grow in virtue myself. And to change this world for the better. I hope this gets you excited to fulfill the great commission with me! As Mother Theresa said, "Some give by going, others go by giving." I'm going out there to the front lines, and I pray that you will support me because the mission can't happen without both.  So please pray for me, and know that I'm praying for you! I invite you to run with me by donating through this page. Thank you for your generosity!

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I've been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I'd be honored to share this mission with you.
