Where I serve
I have the privilege of serving college students at Boise State University in the beautiful state of Idaho! You'll typically find me playing fútbol, reading philosophical literature, or venturing off into the wilderness with friends. I have a pretty cool story of how Christ radically changed my life. I shared a little bit of it below, but it only scratches the surface. If you ever see me I'd love to share it with you!
When I began college at UCSB, I was going through a kind of existential crisis. Life's "big questions" were keeping me up at night, as I was not sure if God even existed, not to mention if Jesus of Nazareth truly is our Lord and Savior. I soon met the FOCUS missionaries who served on my campus, and they walked with me through this time of seeking truth. They introduced me to some of the classical books that addressed the very questions I was asking (i.e. the Summa Theologica by St. Thomas Aquinas, The Handbook of Christian Apologetics by Peter Kreeft and Ronald K. Tacelli), and perhaps more importantly they showed me how beautiful and attractive a life centered around Christ is. With the help of these missionaries and the literature I read, I was convinced of the truth of the Catholic faith. However, my faith expanded beyond the mere intellectual realm when I centered my life around daily prayer, reading scripture, and receiving the sacraments. Through these gifts, I began to have an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. Since then, nothing brings me more joy than sharing the gospel with people. I am so excited to begin my ministry at Boise State in the fall, and to have the opportunity to serve the students there so that they may encounter Christ!
“You perceive it in the depths of your heart: all that is good on earth, all professional success, even the human love that you dream of, can never fully satisfy your deepest and most intimate desires. Only an encounter with Jesus can give full meaning to your lives.”-Saint John Paul II
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I've been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. As Mother Teresa said, "Some give by going on mission, others go on mission by giving." Both parties are indispensable, and so it would be an honor to serve on mission with you! If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. Thank you for your prayers and support!
