Where I serve

I fill a specialized role within FOCUS.  My main duties include writing, editing, and guiding the development of FOCUS curriculum and formation materials.  I use my training in philosophy and theology along with my experience as a missionary to serve FOCUS' Mission.  This year I am working to develop several bible studies, edit the FOCUS Missions' curriculum, coordinate the Denver Summer Projects Program, and much more.  In addition to my duties in Formation and Curriculum Development, I also work closely with the University of Maryland FOCUS team and several other teams in the Washington DC area.  I live with the missionaries at the University of Maryland, and I lead bible studies on that campus.  I have found that it's best to live and work "on-the-ground," within the context of a ministerial setting, so as to develop better materials for ministry.  Many of the materials my department and I develop can be found HERE.

My Story

My background has provided me with a unique set of educational and ministerial experiences all of which contribute to my current work here at FOCUS.  I first encountered FOCUS at Benedictine College as a first-year undergraduate.  At Benedictine I led bible studies and discipled students until graduating in 2012 with a double major in Philosophy and Economics.  After Benedictine I attended Baylor University for two years, where I remained integrally involved in FOCUS campus ministry.  At Baylor I earned a master's degree in Analytic Philosophy with emphasis in Ethics, Epistemology, and Metaphysics.  After Baylor I spent a year at Mundelein Seminary discerning the priesthood and earning graduate credits in theology.  After prayerfully discerning out of seminary I began working for FOCUS full-time, and I couldn't be happier doing so.  My career with FOCUS began in Denver at our national headquarters, and I now serve in Washington DC in the aforementioned role.  In addition to my work with FOCUS, I hold a fellowship at Catholic University of America where I am pursing a doctorate in moral and systematic theology.

On a more personal level, my own interior walk with Our Lord, especially as an undergraduate, involved many intellectual and personal struggles, some of which lead me away from the Church at various points.  FOCUS played a pivotal role in my decision to remain Catholic and commit my life to Christ.  Now I want nothing more than to use my experiences and education to bring more souls to Christ and His Church.

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me on this mission.  Working with Mission partners has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my ministry.  I am blessed and humbled to have so many incredible men, women, and families on my team.  I would like to put your funds to work on campus and in the development of more effective curriculum and formation materials.
