Jonathon Spaid

Hello, and welcome to my family's support page! Allow me to introduce us. My wife, Nicole and I, have been married for almost 5 years. We have two wonderful children. Chiara (named after Blessed Chiara Badano), is three and a half years old and a ball full of energy. Gus (named after St. Augustine), is almost a year and one happy guy! We are a missionary family committed to fulfilling Jesus' command to make disciples of all nations. It is not always easy, but in the words of St. John Paul II, "life with Christ is a wonderful adventure".

Where I serve

I currently serve as the Team Director at North Dakota State University in Fargo, ND.

My Story

I encountered Christ in college at a FOCUS Conference. It changed my life. Before the conference I was enslaved to sin and entrenched in a lifestyle of partying. I was unhappy and my faith in God was nearly nonexistent. Leading up to the conference though I had been praying in desperation with Jeremiah 29:13 "If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me". I told Jesus, "if you're real, show me". During the closing mass of the conference I heard Jesus speak directly to my heart, answering that very prayer. He told me, "Jonathon, if you really want to find me, become Catholic". It put my head into a tailspin. But I'm not one to disregard Jesus speaking directly to me. After the conference I turned away from the life I had been living and only 4 months later entered the Church. Since then I've been committed to living on mission and sharing the love and mercy of Jesus that I've experienced personally with as many people as I can.

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help in this mission. I really believe that the seeds of faith that are being planted, the fruit of conversions, the strong trees of virtue that are being cultivated are because of the prayers and financial support of my mission partners. The beauty of the Church is that we are united in a singular mission to proclaim Christ to the world and to assist those young saplings of Christian converts become strong stalwart oaks of mature Christians who will change the world. I can't take credit for that work. It really is the impact of your prayers and support that the ministry is bearing the fruit that it is. So thank you!
