Where I serve

This year I will be serving the students of George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Mason has a student body of 34,000 and is located only 30 minutes from Washington D.C. So close to the nation's capital, it is easy for political strife and worldly concerns to dominate the thoughts of day-to-day life. My goal as a missionary there is to help students see the bigger picture presented to us by our faith; to fix our eyes together on things eternal and be deeply transformed by the love of Christ.

How will I do this, you ask? The Bible says:

"For though I am free from all men, I have made myself a slave to all, that I might win the more. To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews; to those under the law I became as one under the law—though not being myself under the law—that I might win those under the law. To those outside the law I became as one outside the law—not being without law toward God but under the law of Christ—that I might win those outside the law. To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some."  1 Cor. 9:19-22

By becoming "all things to all men" and meeting our students where they're at — the way Christ met humanity on our level through His Incarnation — I will strive to be a model for the joy of the Gospel and will invite them into a growing relationship with Christ and his Church. I will exhort them as St. Paul did, to become "imitators of me, as I am of Christ."

My Story

I was so blessed to be raised in a loving Catholic home, and to never fall away from the faith. Nonetheless, it took a long time for me to truly begin to understand the deeply personal way Christ pursues my heart. It is a reality I will continue to uncover for my whole life.

As a missionary, my greatest desire is to lead all students to Christ and help them encounter his saving love. My life would have no meaning without him, and I want nothing more than to bring this joy to others and introduce them to the life-changing message of the Gospel. In His ministry on earth, Jesus humbled Himself to meet us on our level, taking on our humanity, and spent most of His time investing deeply in only a few. I look to Jesus’ own example to find the best method of reaching the world. So, similarly, I will strive to sow broadly, but to deeply invest in only a few. With those few, I will share my very life, as it says in 1 Thess 2:8, "So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us."

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I've been blessed with the most amazing people who will journey with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I'd be honored to share this mission with you.
