Where I serve

God has called me to serve college students at West Virginia University. You'll typically find me hanging out at the university cafe, the Newman Center, or high-fiving people around campus. I have a pretty cool story about how Jesus has changed my life -- I think you should hear it sometime! Come find me and I'd love to share it with you. :)

My Story

I never thought “FOCUS Missionary” would be on my radar of things to pursue. While I admired FOCUS, I didn’t think it was for me. I was comfortable living in my own little bubble. However, God desired to pull me out of my comfort zone and show me that I truly am made for more. In order to do this, He had to turn my world around. My senior year of college started off in the most surprising way I could have imagined. My best friend/roommate got engaged and these feelings of despair began to overcome me as I questioned God’s plan for me. Amidst this hopelessness, I knew that God was asking me to spend more time with Him; He wanted my heart. During this time, I had a beautiful encounter with a FOCUS missionary on my campus who taught me how to have an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. I experienced a tremendous amount of joy and trust in the Lord; I wanted to live for Him. It was through prayer that I felt God calling me to join FOCUS and share the beauty of Christ with others.

God sent me to West Virginia University where He took me on the craziest roller coaster ride I ever could have imagined. My world was once again turned upside down. I experienced anxiety in the most debilitating way. I felt completely trapped. No one understood what I was going through, and for the longest time I didn't know if anyone cared to understand what I was going through. There was nothing I could do to make this anxiety go away. The scariest thing was: I was right. No amount of effort, no matter how hard I tried, would make it disappear. I needed Jesus. I needed Jesus to carry this cross with me. He is the only one who understood 100% the pain that I suffered, day in and day out. He was the only one who could console me as I cried in the chapel, desperately asking God to take away the pain. It was in these moments that Jesus seeped into the depths of my heart and began to restore the peace. The whole year was filled with trials and joys, but each time Jesus went deeper and deeper. I began to accept opportunities from God to receive help. Through this help, I began to truly know my dignity and identity as a daughter of God. By the end of the year, the anxiety that had held me back from being the woman God created me to be was finally lifted.

Telling this story to students has been such a blessing for me. The number of students who have opened up to me about anxiety and have committed to Jesus in a deeper way is incredible. I know that God wants to continue using my story to bring more students at West Virginia University to Christ, and I couldn't be more excited about that.

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I've been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I'd be honored to share this mission with you.
