Where I serve

This upcoming year God has called me to serve at Wichita State University! Although I am a proud Texan at heart, God has called me to leave Texas and serve at Wichita State University in Kansas. I look forward to working with my amazing teammates Meggie, Joseph, Sarah, Katie, and Jessica (see picture below left to right) and the incredible students at WSU this next year! Go Shockers and Gig'em!

My Story

Growing up in a family with an older brother, a mom who was a corporate communicator and a youth minister dad, I had numerous experiences with my faith.  I was in private school through fourth grade where I saw God as a “Rulemaker.”  Middle school was full of nothing but angst and long hair for me. I didn’t enjoy going to Church, however, I did go. I was a good student in religious education, but I didn’t have a real relationship with Christ. As I moved into high school, my faith life started to evolve.  Luckily for me, my parents forced me to attend LifeTeen, which was the youth ministry program at my church. My years in LifeTeen helped me enhance my understanding of Christ and appreciate how a community can bring the love of Christ alive.  This new found love of community led me to attend Texas A&M University. I was hopeful my personal faith community would grow when I moved to College Station.

Going into college, I wanted community as soon as possible. As a freshman, I got involved with the Memorial Student Center and St. Mary’s.  These two groups turned out to be the only two communities I needed throughout college.  However, while I had a community of friends who were pursuing Christ, I was still missing a huge piece of my relationship with Christ -- prayer. My prayer life up until my senior year of college was two or three text messages a day to Jesus letting Him know what I wanted and how I was going to accomplish those goals. This “relationship” drastically changed the first semester of my senior year when I met Alec Maly and Seth Robert.

Alec, who hailed from Kansas State, and Seth, who was from South East Missouri State, were our FOCUS missionaries for A&M.  WOW.  They were something! As I got to know Alec and Seth, they invited me to join a senior guys bible study, and both of them slowly began walking with me on my journey towards Christ. Their witness to daily prayer, living a life of virtue, and just being two cool dudes, began to change how I wanted to live my own life. Changing my life to radically serve Christ is exactly what happened. In the last month of my fall semester as a senior, I interviewed to become a FOCUS missionary.  I had full intent of giving them a “heck no” as an answer if they offered me a job. Then on the interview weekend, I encountered many more amazing people who challenged me to take becoming a missionary to prayer. So I did, and for the next month, I prayed every day for Christ to reveal to me where He was calling me to serve Him. You probably know by now what Christ told me to do……Yes! He called me to missionary life! On December 31, 2016, the Lord spoke to me in prayer and the next day I accepted my offer with FOCUS! Ever since that day, the Lord has blessed me with a community who loves me despite my faults, constantly makes me laugh, and brings me to closer to Christ.

As a missionary, my greatest desire is to lead all students to Christ through true friendship. My life has been transformed by Jesus and I want nothing more than to bring this joy to others and introduce them to the life-changing message of the Gospel!

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I've been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I'd be honored to share this mission with you. Please email me at [email protected] with any questions! Thanks and God Bless!
