Where we serve
God has called us to serve college students with FOCUS and we have been sent to the University of Mississippi for the second year in a row. Ryan will be the Team Director this year! Our first year on staff, Ryan served at San Diego State University and Kayla at University of California-Irvine. Statistics show that of all the people that have left their faith, 80% said they did so from the ages of 18-25. This is a crucial time with many changes happening for individuals. There is not a better place to impact the world than on a college campus building friendships with students and leading them to Jesus Christ.
Ryan: God has blessed me abundantly with virtuous men throughout my life. It started with my father and the example that he provided me. I was secure in my home because of the love of my parents. In middle school I was blessed with a youth group leader who had traveled the world as a Marine and was in love with his wife, his family and above all Christ and His Church. In college my Bible study was led by a Marine who ended up discipling me throughout my college years. It was also during my time at CSU that I was around great Missionaries who were married and had children. They really modeled to me how to serve Christ as a husband, father and missionary. In saying yes to God's call to join FOCUS, I am allowing God to work through me to reach His lost and wandering children.
Kayla: I grew up Catholic but didn't come into the fullness of the faith until college through working with the FOCUS missionaries at CSU. I started Bible study and discipleship during my sophomore year and started leading studies during my junior year. By the end of college, I knew that I wanted to work for the Church in some capacity. I ended up discerning that FOCUS was where God was calling me and I am so thankful! It is an honor and privilege to see God working in the lives of the college women I have grown to know and love.
As missionaries, we rely on the generosity of mission partners for our entire salary. The demands of working as missionaries require us to work full-time, meaning that God totally provides for us through supporters. We've been blessed with so many people who want to join our mission. These people vary from close college friends to lifelong family friends to random acquaintances. If you are interested in partnering with us, please let us know of the best way to reach you and we will be in contact with you. I'd be honored to share this mission with you.
