Where I serve
This year, I'll be serving at Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina! I'm super excited to be going to a school with such a rich, Catholic tradition. While I'll always be a Terp, you can bet I'll repping the Crusaders this spring. Catch me down at the river with my rod and reel. I'll be looking to hangout!
Growing up, God blessed me with a great household in which I was instilled with a strong foundation in my faith. Throughout high school, I attended discernment retreats every summer and they always marked the happiest time of the year for me. Despite this positive environment, fear and a desire for worldly things kept me from developing a close relationship with Christ and at times, led me down the wrong path.
My life changed forever when I got involved at the Catholic Student Center at the University of Maryland my sophomore year of college. God spoke to my heart in a profound and dramatic way. In fact, God spoke to my heart so much so that I discerned that he was calling me to the seminary, where I spent my junior year of college. With much prayer, I eventually felt God calling me to leave the seminary. While it was difficult for me to adjust upon leaving , God used the experience to take me deeper in my faith than I could have ever imagined.
Through my friendship with the FOCUS missionaries at Maryland and a genuine desire to enter into the lives of others, I have decided to join FOCUS. I know that this is where the Lord has called me and I am committed to going wherever He takes me.
I NEED YOUR HELP! Going to Poland for World Youth Day convinced me that there is only one thing that is going to conquer the chaos of the world: the Cross and the power of Christ's Divine Love. What the world needs now (probably more than ever) are people who are not afraid to hold up the Cross. It needs people who are willing to enter into the pain and dysfunction of the world and conquer it with the power of the Divine Love, like Christ did and like the great martyrs of the Church have done. And it needs people like St. Maximillian Kolbe, who know that the suffering that we may experience in this world is only but one small part in the great cosmic drama that is taking place in God's creation. Help me invite others to enter into the great mystery and adventure that is our faith. Help me to help others realize that they are LOVED by God. And most importantly, help me to spread the hope of Christ's resurrection that allows us to proudly hold up the Cross and BE NOT AFRAID!
