Mike Murphy retired after 22 years as President and Chief Executive Officer of Sharp HealthCare in 2019. Sharp is a large integrated healthcare delivery organization and is San Diego’s largest private employer with over 18,000 employees and 2,500 physicians, and has annual revenues approaching $4 billion. Prior to joining Sharp 30 years ago, Mike was a partner with Deloitte and Touche and worked for over 12 years in the public accounting industry, with an emphasis on the health care industry. Murphy is a graduate of California State University at Long Beach and is a certified Public Accountant. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Macro Health, Providence St. Joseph Health, Jack in the Box, the Franciscan School of Theology, and the Advisory Boards of Press Gainey and Israeli based CLEW Medical. He has served on numerous community and professional boards including Chair of the State of California Chamber of Commerce in 2016.
Mike’s wife, Sandy, has been an @home mom since 2000 when she stepped down from her role as vice president of communications for Cox Communications in San Diego. With an inordinate amount of “free” time, she then spent the next eight years homeschooling their three daughters. That is when she was catapulted back into her Catholic faith with the Catholic homeschool group they joined. She served on various boards including John Paul the Great Catholic University and Christian Youth Theater. Currently she serves on the board of Catholic in Recovery and leads a Walking With Purpose Bible study. Both Mike and Sandy are long-time members of the San Diego Legatus Chapter.
