Steve Dunn received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in marketing from Rockhurst University in 1974. Soon after, he joined J.E. Dunn Construction as a real estate officer, thus beginning a 44-year career with the company. Steve quickly rose through the ranks, earning the position of Executive Vice President and Treasurer before becoming Chairman of the Board in 2000. Through this role he led and facilitates the board’s functions and responsibilities. Today, JE Dunn Construction is the 10th largest general building contractor in the United States and is a leading provider of construction management services, design-build and integrated project delivery.
Choosing to retire in January 2019, Steve has served on many other boards since (and even during) his time with J.E. Dunn. These include Benedictine College, UMKC, Conception Seminary, Police Foundation of Kansas City, Carpenters District Council of Kansas City Pension Fund, De La Salle Education Center (president), Midwest Builders Casualty Mutual Company, Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City and the Dunn Family Foundation.
He first encountered FOCUS while serving on the board of directors of Benedictine College.
Steve and his wife, Anne, reside in Kansas City where they attend St. Agnes parish regularly. The love spending time with their children and grandchildren.
