This is my seventh year serving Christ and college students with the Fellowship of Catholic University Student (FOCUS)!

After an incredible four years serving as a campus missionary at Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan, this is my third year as a writer and project manager for the Mission Development Team.

On this team, I am blessed to manage and create the communications that FOCUS has with you, its benefactors, on a national scale. This position allows me to use the gifts God has given me for communication and analytical/technical/creative writing to personally invite you into the mission of FOCUS, sharing with you the fruit God is bearing through your partnership with missionaries!

A desire for deeper unity with God changed my life. My senior year of high school, I came to know only a fraction of His love for me during a time of prayer; this experience of Love left me wanting more.

My freshman year of college passed by with many attempts to commit to daily prayer. Sophomore year came along, and FOCUS missionaries came to my campus, Central Michigan University, for the first time ever.

Amy Pica, a FOCUS missionary, and I built a friendship. Our friendship was rooted in our shared love for God. My prayer life and intimacy with the Lord began to abound when I accepted Amy’s challenge to make a daily commitment to prayer. As the Lord prompted me to invite my friends into a discovery of who Jesus is and His Love for them, Amy taught me how to lead a Bible study of my own. I increasingly allowed myself to be more confident in the Lord, trusting that He would give me the graces I needed to be vulnerable and evangelize with the women He placed in my life.

The Holy Spirit continued to work on my heart my junior year of college, leading me to give up the career plans I had. He was opening me up to His Will for me. I came to realize that He wanted me to have an eternal effect on the world through my career. That career, I found out, was to be with FOCUS.

It is a great blessing now to look back on my time as a missionary and all that God did to transform my life and the lives of others. My husband, Thomas, who was one of my fellow first-year FOCUS teammates, and I were able to be on mission together at Tech and now live out our missionary discipleship in Marinette, WI/Menominee, MI with our three daughters, Lucy, Evie, and Franny. Christ continues to call me deeper and deeper into His love as His disciple. To be on mission with Him, striving to give myself unreservedly to Him, brings me great joy!

Being called to work for FOCUS, Christ has shown me that His love cannot be measured and that the treasure I have found in Him and His Church is of infinite value; my hope for each person I encounter is that they unearth this treasure and live in the Love that God eternally gives to them. I hope this for you, too!

Your kindness to me throughout these seven years has proven time and time again God’s care for me and my family. In sharing this mission with Jesus and me, we have changed lives together!
