Where I serve

I am a third year missionary and the team director at the University of Florida.  On any giving day you may find me: drinking craft beer, discussing theology or dancing to live music.  As you may have guessed, my favorite activity is to discuss the theology of dancing in a microbrewery.

My Story

My story begins at Auburn University during the fall of my senior year.

My life was good. Really good.

My life was going to have fulfillment.  I was going to graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a great resume.  I had already accepted a job with a top engineering company. "My Plan" was set in motion, and I was going to control the trajectory of my life. I had everything I had desired for my life, yet, I was not content. I was hesitant. Something inside of me, something I couldn't describe, was holding me back.

Around this same time, I began to volunteer as a member of our church's core team.  These are college students, who devote time in their week to invest in the high school students at our church.  Now, with the new responsibility of leading others, I began to take a closer look at myself.  "Do I practice the way of life I am encouraging my students to live?" If I was honest with myself, I was not. With the help of my fellow core members, I began to learn about myself and even more importantly I began to learn about God.  I learned about who He is, His love for me, and His purpose for my life.  Over the course of this last semester at Auburn, "My Plan" radically changed.   I realized my desire to serve Our Lord, to give up everything and follow Him.  In March of 2015,  I attended an interview weekend with FOCUS for potential missionaries.  It was on this weekend that I fell in love with the mission of FOCUS, launching college students into life-long Catholic mission. It took about 1 day after receiving an offer from FOCUS to realize this is what God was asking me to do. This was His plan for me! After an awkward conversation with my parents and my old boss, I called FOCUS and accepted my offer.  It is now my full-time job to invite college students to know Jesus Christ, to allow Him to direct everything they do, and to share Him with everyone they meet.

In my life, it has been outstanding relationships that have continued to bless me and draw me closer to our Lord. Pope John Paul II says that, "Man cannot fully find himself except through a sincere gift of himself."  This is the foundation of friendship and also the gift I desire to share through the mission of FOCUS.

Your Impact

As a missionary, it is great honor and responsibility to trust solely in God and rely on the community that surrounds me.  One hundred percent of my mission budget and salary is raised from the generous support of family, friends and benefactors.  If you are interested in joining this mission for Christ, please contact me, I would love to share a little bit more about it with you.

"In him, according to the purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to the counsel of his will, we who first hoped in Christ have been destined and appointed to live for the praise of his glory." -Ephesians 1:11-12
