Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: What! You too? I thought I was the only one.  - C.S. Lewis

Where I serve

I am so excited to return to my alma mater, the University of Virginia, for my third year on staff!

My Story

Before I really took my faith seriously, that's exactly what it was--"My Story." I didn't really know that I could have a real relationship with our Lord, so I loved myself. While I continued to grow toward God as I got older, he wasn't the center of my life, and so being Catholic for me was essentially a way to stay morally sound and feel good about myself.

Living day to day with that attitude only got me so far, and it led to a lot of stress, isolation and shame. Looking back, it would have been so easy for me to walk away from the faith, but God put some amazing people in my path who showed me that I was selling myself short in not loving God first. These people were missionaries, small group leaders, and the girls who were in the groups with me. It wasn't crazy or complicated--we let Jesus be a part of our friendships, and I met him there.

Being Catholic is so much more than membership in an ethics club--it opens the door to a love life with God that we are all made to have. God called me to be "in college" for a little while longer to communicate this.

Your Impact

In a letter to a dear friend, St. Therese of Lisieux wrote, "Trust and trust alone should lead us to love." In answering the call to full-time mission work, I have made a commitment to trust in God's providence, relying on the spiritual and financial support of individuals called to invest in this mission in a special way. God is always calling each of us into our "next step" with Him...please contact me ([email protected]) with any questions about the mission--I'd be honored to aid you in your discernment of God's will for you.
