Where I serve
From California to Massachusetts and now New York, God has now called me to serve college students at Stony Brook University. It's unbelievable really, and I often catch myself overcome with awe looking around and reflecting on how I got here. My life could have gone in many directions, most of which would have led me down a dark path (not to sound too dramatic haha). But in His infinite and perfect love and wisdom He has led me to the battlegrounds of New York to do His work. I'm super excited and ready to experience not only His beauty and goodness in New York but in the students I'll encounter!
Joining FOCUS was never part of the plan. I've always been Catholic but I settled for doing the bare minimum for most of my life. With striving to do well in school and becoming a doctor I had a one track mind in college. However, I quickly found myself constantly overwhelmed, unsatisfied, and anxious. It was around those down times that I finally accepted an invitation from a fellow student to hang out at the Newman Center after mass. Even though it was nothing special, the community was really cool and normal (which I did not think was going to be the case) and I found myself attracted to the students there. They lived their faith out and pursued a relationship with Jesus in the midst of a predominately secular/progressive environment. They were courageous. Something I realized I was not. And they were always filled with a joy I couldn’t explain. After being apart of the community for a while, getting more involved on a daily basis, and going on retreats I learned their secret to being faithful, bold, and joyful: They knew— really knew— that they were beloved sons and daughters of God. Not a super big epiphany, I know, but at the same time it’s everything! What does this actually mean for me? Does God really love me? Does He genuinely like me for who I am? The answer is yes, He does! And finally understanding this transformed my whole outlook on life. Therefore, heading into my senior year I dedicated myself to Him more than ever before. And I gotta tell you, the Father does not disappoint. He gave me not only the desire but the grace needed for me to grow in my faith and closer to Him. At the end of it all, I knew that every college man and woman had to know and experience this truth (the life-changing message of the Gospel). And it was this desire to bring others to Him that led me to FOCUS... and the rest is history!
Being a missionary is a full-time job! So when I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to totally rely on the spiritual and financial gifts of mission partners who desire to join me on this mission through their support.
With your prayers and gifts, I am able to share that generosity with the students, allowing me to love them radically and without counting cost. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I'd be honored to share this mission with you.
