Where I serve
I am headed back West after four years at my beloved alma mater, the University of Mississippi. The Lord sure answered my prayers for a placement with lots of sunshine when He called me to serve in sunny Los Angeles at the University of Southern California. I cannot wait to get to campus and begin transforming lives through Jesus.
As a missionary, my greatest desire is to lead all students to Christ. My life has been transformed by Jesus and I want nothing more than to bring this joy to others and introduce them to the life-changing message of the Gospel. I was born and raised Catholic, and grew up in a good Catholic home. For most of my life I was blessed with a pretty solid faith foundation, but quickly got sucked up into the mainstream college environment where I was obsessed with attention, alcohol, trying to be pretty, and lived only at a surface level with not only the people in my life but with Christ. I thought I was still being relatively good, but it wasn't until my world was rocked at a FOCUS conference, SEEK, where I first encountered the true presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, and His Love. I felt this incredible reunion with someone I had been missing for so long. A reunion with The Love of my life. Life hasn't been the same since. He continues to work in my life every single day, and blows me away with how He knows and loves me. One of my best friends, who introduced me to FOCUS, encouraged me to pray about possibly applying to become a missionary. At the time, I was working in Atlanta on an internship with a company I loved, and people I loved. My heart, though, knew that that company was not my immediate calling. At the end of the summer I was given a job offer and happily accepted. My parents could not have been more ecstatic. Through continuous prayer and discernment, I knew I had to apply to become a missionary. What had held me back for a long time were my fears; everything about being a missionary terrified me. It wasn't until during a K-LOVE pledge drive on the radio where I first understood that I cannot let my fears be bigger than my faith; I couldn't let fear control me, fear is not of God. I applied and interviewed with FOCUS and knew if I were called I couldn't not do it. If it were God's will for me, I couldn't not go. Jesus has changed my life. I would be nothing without Him. He is my all- my light, love, strength, joy, and hope. I can't wait to share the Good News of Christ with the rest of the world, and share in life-giving, authentic, Christ-centered friendships.
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I've been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I'd be honored to share this mission with you.
