Hey! My name's Christopher, I was born and raised in a tiny town in Eastern Washington called Colfax, and I have the incredible privilege of being a FOCUS Missionary.
God has incredibly blessed me and called me to serve college students and the FOCUS team at Boise State University! You'll typically find me hanging out at in a coffee shop, the Catholic Center, or showing people the beauty of God's creation in the mountains! I am extremely excited to work with my three teammates to bring students to Christ.
I never expected to become a missionary. I've always been Catholic, but in truth it was never that close to my heart. Throughout college while active in my church, I grew further and further from Christ. Yet by all standards I was excelling at life, getting stellar grades, gaining acceptance to top medical schools, and having great times with my friends. Yet on the inside I could feel myself sinking into hopelessness and despair. There was little beauty in life, only the drudge of school work, and I was miserably unhappy. Then the missionaries on my campus invited me to attend the SEEK conference this past January, and this conference changed my life.
I remember during SEEK at adoration when Jesus revealed Himself to me. He showed me my life for what it really was, and I realized that if I wanted to be fully alive, I had to turn my life around. That was when I first started to actually spend time praying. As the missionaries walked with me and showed me more about my faith then I knew existed, I realized that for the first time, I was truly happy and thriving. It was a few months after SEEK that God put it on my heart to become a FOCUS missionary.
As a FOCUS missionary, I have the immense responsibility and opportunity to share this peace and joy I found in Christ with college students.
This mission is impossible to do alone. God called me to shine His light in places where there is a lot of darkness, that we may transform not only a college campus but a generational culture. If this is a mission that you would like to take part in I would ask that you consider partnering with me, spiritually or financially to bring about this change. I would love to talk to you about this mission, so please reach out to me ([email protected]) and we will get together!
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on …
