The college campus is one of the most open and dynamic centers in American culture, and through serving college students we seek to engage young people at the height of their formation and decision making. I currently serve the students at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. You can usually find me at a coffee shop, engaged in some sort of conversation involving Jesus, music, or the need for Beauty in evangelization.
As a college freshman, I had a great desire in my heart to grow deeper in my relationship with Christ. After watching my dad pass away from a year-long battle with brain cancer, I was utterly convinced that God the Father's love for me remained even in the midst of great suffering. This truth of God's triumph of The Cross, redeeming death and turning into life, resonated in my heart and fueled a fire to share this truth with others.
At the height of my search, I encountered FOCUS for the first time. A missionary met with me for lunch, invited me to a Bible study, and introduced me to the people who would go on to truly change my life and become some of my dearest friends. Most importantly, she challenged me to develop a daily prayer life and open wide the doors of my heart. As I dove more into Scripture and started asking more questions, my heart burned with a desire to share this love with others in a radical and tangible way.
After leading Bible studies and mentoring women throughout the rest of undergrad, I made the decision my senior year to become a missionary full time. It has been a journey of purification, strengthening, and stretching my heart, but the Lord never ceases to fill it with his merciful Love.
The best part of this whole journey is that YOU are the ones who make it possible. Your prayers and financial support are fueling a mission of over 600 missionaries on 123 college venues across the world. Think of the souls that your yes has affected! THANK YOU for your yes for the Kingdom and for Jesus Christ. Your generosity has and will continue to bear great spiritual fruit in your heart and the hearts of those college students FOCUS will encounter.
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on …
