Where I serve

I am currently serving at the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) in Colorado Springs, Colorado! God has blessed me with a unique opportunity to be a witness and serve the cadets and future officers of our operational Air Force. Words cannot describe how ecstatic I am to be here as a witness for our Lord and walk with those who are striving to encounter Him in a more intimate way.

"Put on the full armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand the tactics of the evil one."              - Ephesians 6:11

My Story

My story is not so different than many other young Catholics who attend college and slowly begin to drift away from their personal faith. My faith had always been important to me, but Jesus was not the center of my life. He was more of a crutch I would turn to in times of trial and treated Him as a benchwarmer on the sidelines. My identity was largely wrapped around a relationship I was involved with for the first half of college. She did challenge me and helped me grow in certain regards to my faith, but I felt that God was calling me to not pursue that relationship any longer.

I was able to attend SEEK2017 (a conference put on by FOCUS) in San Antonio that winter and encountered Jesus during adoration with 17,000 other young men and women on fire for their faith. For the first time in my life I was able to surrender everything to Him in that moment. My being, my fears, my doubts, my successes, and all my wounds. I had finally been able to give my whole self to Him and be completely His. From that point on I went through a revitalization of my faith. Jesus is my everything, HE strengthens me when I am weak, for when I am weak, HE is strong. Without HIM I am powerless. In the Gospel of Luke we are reminded, "When you have done all you have been commanded, say, 'We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.' " How beautiful it is to know that we exist simply because our Heavenly Father willed it so and desires to share His infinite goodness with us!

Even the simplest of actions, because of our union with Christ, can advance the mission of the Church.

Your Impact

I often get asked, "Eric, what made you decide to become a FOCUS missionary?". My answer is simple, but powerful. I would not have come to know Jesus the way I know Him now had it not been for the simple invitation and hospitality of a FOCUS missionary at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln my freshman year. He challenged me to be a man and asked me hard questions concerning whether I was living a life of chastity, sobriety and excellence. This missionary is near and dear to my heart today along with two other missionaries who discipled and guided me on my walk with Christ throughout college. They all showed me what it meant and looked like to be a man after God's own heart and the art of living out Catholic masculinity. I wish to reach men and women the same way those men reached me and instruct them in the same way Jesus did with his apostles and disciples. We need men and women after God's heart who are willing to go into the trenches and bring souls to Christ. Men and women who will answer our Father's high call and say, "Yes, Lord, I will go!". Join me on this mission to make disciples of all nations and raise up a generation on fire for the Lord and His Church!
