Where I serve

God has called me to serve college students. You'll typically find me hanging out at the university cafe, the Newman Center, or high-fiving people around campus. I have a pretty cool story about how Jesus has changed my life -- I think you should hear it sometime! Come find me and I'd love to share it with you. :)

My Story

As a missionary, my greatest desire is to lead all students to Christ. My life has been transformed by Jesus and I want nothing more than to bring this joy to others and introduce them to the life-changing message of the Gospel. I desire to witness the Kingdom of God that is already here and the fullness of it to come. In His ministry on earth, Jesus humbled Himself to meet us on our level, taking on our humanity, and spent most of His time investing deeply in a few. I look to Jesus’ own example to find the best method of reaching the world.

As a young child, I had many moments of realization that every living person was every bit as real as I was. Growing up Catholic, I felt drawn to the Lord in His presence within the Eucharist. And if I had to coin a nickname for my younger self it would be, "beauty hunter." In high school the mire of shame kept me from receiving the Lord's love into my life. Shame and pride prevented me from making my heart a dwelling space of grace. I failed to sustain hope on my own. In the midst of my college transition I found myself muddling through questions such as: “Who do I want to be?” “Why am I here?” “How do I want to impact the world?” These questions tend to carry immense existential weight, and the thought of seeking the answers to these questions alone terrified me. In the midst of tough questions, I realized my fickle preference for loneliness and compromise for passive friendship. Although my intense desire to change the world seemed like the “right” dream to have, it was seemingly less beautiful and true because it bloomed from egoism. I became immersed in the typical: smothered by superficial interests and misguided by false hopes. The condition and direction of my spiritual life was voyaging to inconstancy, boredom and anxiety. Throughout my time as a college student, God’s intense love echoed in the hearts of those involved at my college Newman Center. The women and men I met there contained the hope I’d been struggling to conjour up on my own for so many years. Their unsullied joy was of the Gospel, challenging my despair and reserve with God. They knew the source of their joy: relationship with Christ Himself.

My life of self-reliance and hesitancy was radically challenged once I was invited to put God at the center of my life, in order to know, love, and serve for His glory. I wasn't challenged to view my longing for more as a problem to fix but as an abundant life to step into. Authentic friendship spoke life into me, teaching me that it’s never too late to seek a newer world. My brothers and sisters in Christ acknowledged my ache by encouraging me to: seek and find Him, to pray daily, to engage in the joy of redemptive suffering, to steep myself in His holy presence in the Word, to partake in the life of the Sacraments, and invited me to center my whole life around His hope for me. My faith didn't happen in one big, grand, and overwhelming moment; rather, it's been a purifying journey that's urged me to embrace the will of becoming, reclaiming the person He created me to be.

Ultimately, it has always been His great love drawing near to me in the hearts of His faithful people. The current state of my divine intimacy with God, and moral growth, was borne out of the fruits of authentic friendship and serious discipleship. Jesus Christ has swept me up into His story through the sacrificial love he has for His people. I have never felt more myself than I do right now.

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I've been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I'd be honored to share this mission with you.
