Where I serve

I serve at the University of Pittsburgh! I have just graduated at the University of Colorado at Boulder and I'm stoked to be a mission for Jesus Christ in this apostolate of FOCUS that is very dear to my heart. I was without direction in my life until these missionaries came into my life my Freshman year at CU Boulder, and I would not be the same without them saying "yes" to FOCUS. I desire to help students have an encounter that could change the course of their life if they are willing to accept His extremely high call to "follow me".

My Story

I had always grown up in the Catholic faith in the town of Lafayette, Louisiana. I always liked Jesus and His teachings made sense to me, but I was not really ever encouraged to have a faithful relationship with Jesus each and everyday. I had many amazing witnesses of the faith around me growing up, and I always knew I wanted what they had, but never really had anyone to walk with me or show me how to do the whole following Jesus thing. Without that relationship with the Lord I strayed into a life of deep sin and guilty pleasure. Eventually, I decided to go to CU Boulder for my undergraduate degree, which ironically is the 2nd least religious city in the U.S.! I get to Boulder and I am so excited to meet people my age, get plugged into a fraternity, etc., but the first people I end up meeting are a couple FOCUS missionaries that my dad set up a brunch with. I had met a FOCUS missionary my sophomore year of high school, and when I met these two guys in Boulder I got the same impression that they were just filled with this joy about themselves that once again I knew I wanted, and this time one of those missionaries ended up investing in me! I am so grateful that God sent someone in my life to walk with me and invite me to a deep and personal relationship with Jesus! It didn't come that easy though, because I still was set on joining a fraternity and throughout my pledge ship at my fraternity I committed some of my worst sins, but at the same time I was still going to daily mass more and being faithful to my Sunday mass commitment just like I had learned in Louisiana. That missionary who invested in me shared his testimony with me at the end of my first semester freshman year, and invited me to put Jesus at the center of my life! I said, "Sure.", but that "Sure" all God needed for me to encounter Him in a transformative way in the Word over the winter break, and later in the Eucharist in a way that I will surely never forget. I felt like the Holy Spirit was lifting me off the pew that day in adoration on January 30th at around 8:15pm, giving me more peace than I had ever experienced my life, and a gentle invitation to "Follow me." Ever since then I had tried to follow him and there has been some beautiful crosses Jesus has put in my way, and my life has never been more full and fulfilling then intentionally following the Way, the Truth, and the Life of Jesus Christ!

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I've been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I'd be honored to share this mission with you.
