It is my great joy to share that God is calling me to serve college students at the University of Pittsburgh. I am very excited to be able to share in this mission work with you!

I grew up in a Catholic family and had the blessing of attending a Benedictine high school, Marmion Academy. However, in many ways, my heart was not open to the Catholic faith, and my identity and worth were based entirely in my work and in my own personal success. 

During my first few weeks at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, there were many temptations to leave behind my faith. And I almost did. But in the Catholic community there, I found a group of intellectually minded people who loved Christ, people who had the most intriguing joy about them that I could not at first define. A FOCUS missionary there invited me to a Bible study, and it was tentatively that I made that initial yes. But my college years have been absolutely transformed by that uncomfortable yes. I came to know that I could have a personal relationship with Christ, and I began to desire and pursue that friendship. Moreover, through the crucible that was MIT, I realized that I needed to have God as my foundation, that I needed to put my worth in my identity as a son of the Father. I came to know in time the joy that was to be found in Christ, the joy that I had first seen at the beginning of my college years. 

And gradually, I desired to share with others the peace, strength, and healing that I have found in the Lord.  This past year I led a Bible study at my fraternity, Beta Theta Pi. It was such a privilege and blessing to be able to meet my brothers where they were at and walk the Christian journey with them, affirming their worth as beloved sons and building up deeper authentic friendships with them. 

That s why I am so excited to be a FOCUS missionary. There are a lot of college students out there who do not have hope, who do not have peace. Through the prayers and support of my friends and family, God has gifted me with the tremendous opportunity to encounter college students at Pitt and be a witness to His great love for them.

When I answered the call to be a FOCUS missionary, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission.
