We serve at FOCUS' headquarters just outside of Denver, CO.
We had very impactful experiences of campus ministry in college that inspired us to be a FOCUS family.
Lisa graduated from Benedictine College and was involved with FOCUS for all four years, three as a student leader with FOCUS. Members of her Bible study have gone on to teach at Catholic schools and even to profess final vows as religious.
Kevin spent his first two years at James Madison University in Virginia. At the time, James Madison did not have FOCUS and the lack of quality Catholic campus ministry was apparent. Kevin was heavily involved with the Protestant group, Intervarsity during his time there. After two years, Kevin transferred to Benedictine College to study Catholic theology. At Benedictine, Kevin became involved with FOCUS as a student leader (and began to date Lisa as well!)
After gradutation, Kevin and Lisa married and moved to Denver, CO so that Kevin could pursue a Master's degree in Sacred Scripture at the Augustine Institute. Upon graduation, Kevin and Lisa decided that the best thing they could do with their talents and education was to dedicate themselves to the mission of FOCUS.
After two years on campus as a missionary family, the Cotters moved back to Denver to work at FOCUS' headquarters.
FOCUS has allowed us opportunities that we never expected or imagined.
During our time, Kevin has been able to write the majority of resources for missionaries and student leaders on campus. Over 15,000 students attend FOCUS Bible studies across the country, the majority of which use Kevin's work. Below is a brief clip of Kevin training students at a FOCUS conference.
Kevin has also had the opportunity to lead FOCUS' Web department, the Digital Campus team, speak at FOCUS conferences, and oversee the FOCUS blog. The blog had over 1.5 million pageviews last year alone!
Lisa has served a number of roles within FOCUS. Previously, she was the Family Liason as she supported dozens of FOCUS families across the country. Lisa has also spoken at several FOCUS conferences. Check out her most recent talk below in front of 6,000 women.
While Lisa no longer works formally for FOCUS, she continues to speak around the country -- often on FOCUS campuses or promoting FOCUS during her talks.

By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on …
