Hey! My name's Lisa. I'm a FOCUS missionary.
Hey! My name's Lisa. I'm a FOCUS missionary.
I am very grateful that God has asked me to return to South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota, as a FOCUS Missionary again. This will be my fourth year with FOCUS and my third year at SDSU. I am so excited to continue to grow closer to the incredible women on this campus. We are very blessed to have a team of 5 full-time missionaries at SDSU this year, as the mission here is thriving! All praise be to God! Join me and my team on this mission as we continue to bring Christ to the students on this campus.
As a missionary, my greatest desire is to lead all students to Christ. My life has been transformed by Jesus and I want nothing more than to bring this joy to others and introduce them to the life-changing message of the Gospel. It is through FOCUS and true authentic friendships that God brought me to the fullness of faith as a freshman in college.
I was extremely blessed to have attended North Dakota State University for my undergrad and by the grace of God I had many people invite and welcome me into the beautiful community at St. Paul's Newman Center at NDSU.
It was here at the Newman Center my freshman year that I was asked to join a FOCUS Bible study, little did I know at the time, that saying yes to this was just the very beginning of saying yes to a life lived solely for Christ. Soon after joining this study I met our FOCUS missionaries at the Newman Center on campus and quickly realized that they were people who joyfully embraced their Catholic Faith and lived it out in a beautiful way. As I began to grow closer to my bible study leaders and the missionaries I realized that having a close personal relationship with Jesus was a reality and I soon had a growing love, desire and passion for my Catholic faith and for Jesus Christ. This desire led me to going on FOCUS's National Conference in 2013 and it was here, alongside 6,000 other college students, that I came to know the fullness of truth and the immaculate beauty that is in the Mass and the Sacraments. Quite simply, I was falling in love with Jesus and I had a renewed energy for sharing His love with others. This quickly transitioned into the desire to want to become a missionary myself so that I too could have an impact on others and help lead them closer to Christ.
My first year as a missionary I served at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, and God allowed me a front row seat at witnessing Him perform endless miracles and transformations in the lives of the students on the campus. He then continued to pour His blessings into my life as He asked me to move to Brookings, SD, to work at SDSU for my second year as a missionary. Through being a missionary I have been blessed with lifelong, authentic friendships and I have witnessed many people change their lives as they started to live a life for Christ. I am excited for this upcoming year as God allows me to watch Him work in the lives of the students at South Dakota State University.
This mission could not be more important in today's society, as 80% of college students fall away from the faith in college. But I cannot do this alone. As missionaries we work full time on college campuses serving the students, but in order to be radically available to them we need to rely on the Spiritual and financial support of our Mission Partners.
I've been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me through your prayers and financial support, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment with you. It would be an honor to have you join me on this mission in bringing Christ to college students.
Saint Therese of Lisieux said “ Some give by going to the
missions; others go by giving to the missions. Without both there is no
mission.” I thank you in advance for your love, support and prayers.
As Mission Partners joining me on this mission I promise to:
1. Pray for you daily and for your special intentions through going to daily Mass and praying a daily Holy Hour.
2. Keep you updated with what we are doing on the campus of SDSU and the students we are encountering.
3. To work diligently every day to serve the students for the sake of Jesus Christ.
May God abundantly bless you and your families.
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on …
