God has called me to serve college students at the University of Southern California. Fight on!

As a student-athlete at Stanford, school and track were consuming my life. I had been raised Catholic, but I felt far from my faith as I struggled to keep up with my academics, athletics, and making friends in a new place. Finally I found Stanford’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes group on campus. Walking with this group in fellowship and Bible study reminded me that my identity is as a daughter of Christ. I continued to strive in my sport and my studies, but my world was flipped upside down when COVID struck and I was forced to move back home to Boulder, Colorado, for my entire junior year of college. God clearly had a plan in this chaos, as it was during this year that I encountered FOCUS at CU Boulder.

With all my Stanford friends scattered around the country, I remember asking the Lord to send me loving friends in Boulder. God answered this prayer with the gift of my friend Raquel, a FOCUS missionary at CU. Through joining Raquel’s Bible study and walking in discipleship with her, I returned to the Sacraments with renewed fervor and love for Jesus. I developed a consistent prayer life and several virtuous, life-giving friendships. This foundation with FOCUS emboldened me to live out my Catholic faith as I returned to Stanford for my senior year.

As a missionary, I desire to lead students to a personal relationship with Christ. I know first-hand the difference Christian community makes for college students, and I fully believe these students are worth our efforts! In His ministry on Earth, Jesus humbled Himself to meet us on our level, taking on our humanity, and spent most of His time investing deeply in a few. I hope to follow Jesus’ example by meeting student-athletes where they are at and showing them their true identities as beloved daughters of God.

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. Your partnership allows me to reach those students who feel the “most terrible poverty” that exists on the college campus today: loneliness and the feeling of being unloved.
