Where I serve
I serve at one of the largest state schools in Alabama. Auburn has had full-time FOCUS missionaries since 2008 and the Lord has blessed and built up a strong Catholic community there. I am excited to continue our efforts to bring the Gospel to the students at Auburn and invite them to live as disciples of Christ.
My freshman year of college I decided that believing in God had up to that point no really impact on my life. In high school, I had asked my youth minister a lot of questions about who God is, why man was created and what our purpose was and I never felt like I received satisfactory answers. I decided to stop going to church when I started college and probably never would've gone back if a friend of mine hadn't invited me to the Catholic Student Center for Thursday night Mass and dinner and then invited me to an apologetics class. At this class I could finally get answers for those big picture questions. At this point, I didn't know if God existed or if He loved me, but I began to see the Church as having logical and reasonable answers to those questions.
Once I went on the campus ministry's retreat, I met a FOCUS missionary in my small group and she modeled for me the vulnerability I needed to encounter Christ that weekend and received healing from many serious sins I had struggled with for years.
After that weekend, I knew I wanted to live my life for Christ and share the truth of God's love and the freedom He offers to all of people.
My growth and development in my faith was strongly shaped and encouraged through my time spent with FOCUS and I knew that after I graduated I wanted to serve college students full-time in the same way.
I am now starting my 4th year as a missionary and my 3rd year as a team director. I am excited to continue to direct the evangelization efforts of my teammates and to encourage and support them as we seek to share that God infinitely loves us and desires to be in a life-giving relationship us.
The Father is using me to be Christ's hands and feet to the students at Auburn and to invest in my teammates as team director at Auburn. By joining me as a mission partner, we can see how God will bless Auburn's campus and bring the light of the Gospel to the students there. Will you join me on mission?
