God has graciously called Ashley and I to serve our third year at Minnesota State University in Mankato. I will be returning as the Team Director, providing training in the New Evangelization for missionaries and students. Ashley will also be returning as a full time missionary.
Becoming FOCUS missionaries, is how the Lord has asked us to invest in students in pursuit of deeply impacting their lives. This is in a grateful response to those who took the time to do the same for us and have forever changed our lives. During our time attending the University of Mary, we had missionaries, friends, and mentors model for us how to live in service to Jesus Christ and his Church.
During freshman year, we met a married couple that invited us into their home to have meals and share family life with us. We were deeply impacted by the way they lived out holiness and taught us an important lesson: our lives, families, and material goods exist for the salvation of souls. Since that first evening, we have committed ourselves to live a life of generosity in all things.
The following year, we both met and were invested in by FOCUS missionaries. It was through these relationships that we became convicted that by our baptism, we have been called to share the Gospel. They equipped us to lead Bible studies, one-on-one mentorship, which we call Discipleship, and teach others to do the same. Those years of intellectual, human, spiritual, and apostolic formation at the University of Mary have inspired us to go forth to spread the mission of the Church.
When we answered the call to join FOCUS, we made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help us through this mission. we have been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with us as we serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with us, please let us know of the best way to reach you and we will schedule an appointment. we'd be honored to share this mission with you.
We encounter God in an intimate relationship through daily prayer, the sacraments and the Scriptures.
By building genuine friendships, we meet students on a deeper level.
We teach students how to share the gospel, who in turn teach other students how to pass it on …
