Where I serve

I am currently serving my third year at Western Kentucky University (Let's Go Tops!) with FOCUS! This year is my first year as Team Director at WKU, and it has been a joy to welcome a brand new team of missionaries to campus. Outside of regularly participating in the Sacraments and daily prayer, we spend most of our days hanging out with students and helping them to know the person of Christ through one-on-one authentic friendship, mentorship, and bible studies. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you want to know more about our mission on Western's Campus!

(From Left to Right: Anthony- first year from University of Illinois, Me, Joe- third year from George Mason University, Nuala- first year from Christendom College)

My Story

Growing up, as someone who attended Mass and Lifeteen events every Sunday, I was content with checking all the necessary boxes to consider myself a good, practicing Catholic. I was very happy for the most part, but I always carried within myself a deep fear that God didn't actually exist and that my personal existence was actually pointless. When arriving to my freshman year of college at Georgia Tech, I began to receive questioning  about what I believed, and I quickly realized how much of my previous faith foundation was built on sand, surfacing my deepest fears.  Soon, I found myself enter into a deep internal struggle about my personal beliefs and was usurped with my own self-image and a constant restlessness in trying to be someone I wasn't. I began pursuing the person the world told me would make me happy, but somehow, the more I pursued the world's image, the more restless I became. Through God's grace in my second year of college, I befriended a FOCUS missionary and got involved in a FOCUS bible study. Soon after getting involved in the bible study, I was further invited to attend SEEK 2015. SEEKing (haha- so funny I know ;) ) to find some deep internal conviction for my beliefs, I attended the conference and received many more blessings than I could ever ask for. After listening to a series of talks on the existence of God and His presence in the Eucharist, I knew I had received the absolute truth and was radically moved to give my heart to Christ in a new way by making him and His truth the center of my life. I realized I no longer had to seek after being someone else but simply becoming more and more of myself.

I firmly believe God has called me to share the great joy He has given me through this experience to others: the joy that you too were made for a specific purpose and God calls you to become more of yourself every day as well! I am absolutely delighted to now be able to do that through FOCUS!

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I've been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I'd be honored to share this mission with you.
