Nicholas Richter

Howdy! My name’s Nick. I’m a FOCUS missionary.

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends”

John 15:13

Where I serve

God has called me to serve college students with FOCUS as the Team Director at Texas A&M University in College Station alongside my wife Hanna. My relationship with God has been an amazing story of Him calling me continually higher, and giving me the grace and tools needed at each step of the way. I am incredibly excited to be His instrument in the lives of the men at Texas A&M, my teammates, and the people around me, calling them higher and striving to walk with them in a life centered around Jesus. God is good all the time, all the time God is good!

My Story

Throughout my youth, faith was always something important to my family, from going to mass every Sunday, to even the occasional confession and fasting. Despite this, I lacked a personal relationship with Jesus and religion to me was something that should be hidden and private. Going to college I would have considered myself a good Catholic man, but didn’t understand Jesus’ call to Christians to be a “city on a hill,” living as examples to others (Matthew 5:14-16). Through hardships in the Corps of Cadets, I started seeking God more and more, but never made the connection between my beliefs and the way I was living. Through the witness of my friend Carlos and his own journey in discipleship through FOCUS, I had someone who was willing to meet me where I was and walk with me toward Jesus. Because of the “yes” of the FOCUS Missionaries at Texas A&M, their pursuit of Carlos and in-turn his pursuit of me, I found a community of people striving to grow closer to God and proclaim the good news. They became the “pile of hot coals” that set me on fire and are the reason for my “yes” to FOCUS and my “yes” to Jesus to fulfill his Great Commission for the rest of my life (Matthew 28:18-20). I pray daily that I may meet a young man on campus, just like myself, who is deeply longing for something more so that I can be there to point him to the happiness found only in the Father.

I served my first two years as a campus missionary at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa (2019-2021), my third year as an Assistant Team Director at Texas A&M (2021-2022) the same year that Hanna and I got married, and now my second year as the Team Director at Texas A&M and my fifth year with FOCUS!

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. I would like to invite you, through prayers or financially, to go on this journey of evangelization with me.
