Rebecca Wallace

Hi! My name's Rebecca Wallace and I'm a FOCUS missionary. I highly enjoy a good campfire, coffee chats, LSU football, and most especially dancing (or ultimate frisbee ~ it's a toss up.)

Where I serve

God has called me to serve as a first-year missionary at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas! I am stoked to join my teammates in bringing the mission of FOCUS to a new campus this fall. Roll (geaux) Tigers!

My Story

I was born into an extremely loving, Catholic family in south Louisiana where the weather is hot and the food is good. Growing up, my elementary and high school education taught me foundational truths of faith. However, it was not until my college career (at Louisiana State University) where these truths became personal. At the on-campus Catholic Church, Christ the King, I encountered men & women who were my age and who were undoubtedly living with such a unique freedom, a type of joy I had never witnessed elsewhere. I slowly came to realize they all had one thing in common: Jesus Christ was at the center of their lives. My early college years were filled with things I thought would fulfill me: empty relationships, passing pleasures, societal pressures for what people called the "norm." I had put my identity into so many things, letting the unhealthy relationships or friendships define me. But I was continually left feeling broken, alone, and so unfulfilled. It wasn't until I started frequenting the Catholic Center, meeting these oddly happy people, attending Bible study, attending SLS 2018 and SEEK 2019, becoming involved in FOCUS discipleship, that I truly saw my life begin to transform. I was no longer living for the world- I was living for something bigger, someone bigger: Jesus Christ.

As a missionary, my greatest desire is to lead all students to Christ, and to allow them to experience freedom from the chains of society (as Kanye once said, "No more living for the culture, we nobody's slave"). I hope to encounter many women on campus in similar positions to that of my own when I first attended college. I pray that the Lord can use me to reach those who are feeling hurt, isolated, or unfulfilled, and that I can model for them the path Jesus models for us, one that leads to a deeper communion with Him and the fulfillment of our deepest desires.

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I've been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. My email is [email protected]

I'd be honored to share in this mission with you :)
