Where I serve

This year, I have the opportunity to serve as a first year missionary at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. Go Jags!

My Story

While I grew up in a Catholic family that went to mass every week, my faith and relationship with the Lord were not a priority going into high school. When my mom first got sick, I didn't know how to handle it. I began overcompensating by being a perfectionistI placed my identity in my grades, the organizations I was involved in, and what everyone else thought of me. I found myself getting sucked into the party culture, believing that it would fulfill me, but it only left me emptier than before. When I got to college, I carried this way of living with me.

It wasn't until I met a FOCUS missionary at a mass on campus that my life started to change. I was hesitant to get involved at first, but there was something different about that community that I noticed and deeply desiredJoy. I was invited to attend a conference over Christmas break that year called SEEK in San Antonio, TX. It was there in Eucharistic Adoration, that I truly encountered Christ for the first time, and felt the overwhelming love and mercy He had for me and each one of us. I would love to say that immediately after this encounter, my life changed forever and I never looked back. While in some ways that was true, I still struggled believing the lies that this world was telling me about perfectionism and who I was supposed to become. But slowly, after countless hours in bible studies, prayer, the Sacraments, and experiencing true, authentic friendship, I finally understood that I was being called to something greater than myself, something I never would have imagined. I was being asked to share my experiences and faith with other college students and women, who just like me, are experiencing the lies, loneliness, and emptiness that comes from the brokenness in our world. I said yes to becoming a FOCUS missionary because I want others to know that not only do they have a good and loving Father who desires a relationship with them, but also one who would send His only Son to die on a cross even if it was just for them alone.

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I've been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I'd be honored to share this mission with you.
