Where I serve

Though I'm at Husker at heart (Go Big Red!), Jesus has called me for a 2nd year to know and love the students at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. I am so blessed to be working in this incredible diocese with my brilliant, prayerful team of fellow missionaries. Please keep us and the students in your prayers!

My Story

Being a FOCUS missionary was never part of my plan.

I grew up outside Lindsay, Nebraska, on a farm with my big family. My parents and siblings are the ones who taught me most about the Catholic Church, Christ's love for me, and the need to be set apart from the rest of the world. They instilled in me a deep faith, which was only strengthened by the various retreats, conferences, and pilgrimages I was able to attend and help with throughout high school.

I attended college at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, where I majored in theology. I stayed strong in my beliefs and I loved learning more, but I struggled to grow in my relationship with Jesus and give my life to Him. I needed a community striving for greatness to help me. Without them, I remained pretty lukewarm. As graduation approached, my plan was to live in small town Nebraska close to my family, help with retreats, and continue to grow in my current relationships. I was perfectly happy with this plan. I was satisfied. I was comfortable.

When my life was suddenly turned upside town and all my plans were shattered, God was finally able to reveal to me His plan - that He did not create me to live mediocrely, but to change the world. "The world offers you comfort, but you were not made for comfort. You were made for greatness!" (Pope Benedict XVI). God is radically calling me to give everything to Him - my fears, hopes, dreams, desires, relationships, my very self - and focus on one thing and one thing alone: Him. And to be perfectly honest, I am being transformed and healed in a way that I could never achieve in all my efforts and plans.

By being a FOCUS Missionary, I get to do all the things I love most: surround myself with the sacraments, form intentional relationships, and walk with people toward Jesus. My greatest desire is to offer the community and relationships that I craved for so long to college students who are also starving for love, for healing, for purpose. My life has been transformed by Jesus and I want nothing more than to bring this joy to others and introduce them to the life-changing message of the Gospel. In His ministry on earth, Jesus humbled Himself to meet us on our level, taking on our humanity, and spent most of His time investing deeply in a few. I look to Jesus’ own example to find the best method of reaching the world.

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I've been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I'd be honored to share this mission with you.
