The Lord has stirred my heart to serve the Church in a new way, and I am now traveling to different parishes and campuses across the country to put on a nightly mission/retreat. These events entail speaking, storytelling through music, Eucharistic adoration, and worship music. The aim is to make time and space for people to encounter the Living God and come to fullness of life in Jesus. These events
Though born and raised Catholic, my faith really came alive as at age 16 through parish youth group, retreats, and foreign mission trips. As a college student I was involved in leadership at Florida State University, which is where I began leading worship. After graduation I spent a year in the seminary to consider a possible call to the priesthood - to live radically in service of Christ and His Church. The Lord called me out of seminary to pursue the call to married life, and I ended up accepting a job across the country in Denver, Colorado. I served at several different parishes over six years in youth and music ministry, and joined as a FOCUS missionary in 2007. After working on campus at Colorado School of Mines and the University of Denver for four years, I transitioned to the FOCUS National Office to apply my time and gifting to build up our music efforts for national events.
In answering this call to be a missionary, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me live out this calling. Like the entire Christian life, the life of a missionary reminds my family and I that we are totally and at every moment dependent upon the Lord's providence. We've been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with us as we serve this exciting mission. If you are interested in partnering with Joy and the children and I - to in a sense adopt us as your missionary family - please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment.
We'd be honored to share in this mission with you.
