Where I serve
God has called me to serve college students on the beautiful campus of University of Wisconsin-Madison.Go Badgers! You'll typically find me hanging out at the university cafe, the Newman Center, or high-fiving people around campus. I have a pretty cool story about how Jesus has changed my life -- I think you should hear it sometime! Come find me and I'd love to share it with you. :)
I graced the world with my presence on December 1, 1995. As a chubby baby, life was great. Until I had to eat on my own. I grew up as the last of eight children, all of us raised by Bola and Niyi Labinjo, our parents. They taught us to embrace the journey of life, take chances, be very open, grab opportunities by the hand, laugh hard, cry sometimes, and love like Christ
I grew up in a Christian home, but sad to say, I did not have a personal relationship with Christ. I graduated from high school in Atlanta, GA, and went to college at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, way into the cornfields. There was were I had that personal yet radical encounter with The Lord, and I am blessed to say that I have not looked back since. I looked more into the truths that that He has given us on earth, and I found that in the Catholic Church. I immediately got very involved with the Newman there, and there also I met the most amazing people, and formed authentic friendships there. I became Catholic on Easter (well, Easter vigil) in April 2015.
September of 2016, I got the opportunity to see Pope Francis when he came to the US for The World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia. Whilst there, I began to think about how I was called to become a Saint. I entered into a conversation with our FOCUS missionary that evening, and after some reflection, I heard Christ speaking to me to go forth and become His vessel and change someone's life. I replied him, "So you want me to be a FOCUS missionary?"
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I've been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I'd be honored to share this mission with you.
