Where I serve
It is exciting to be serving in the heart of New York City at NYU. In a city that has helped to shape modern history in so many ways, bringing Jesus Christ to the students of NYU is as important as ever. As one of four missionaries serving at NYU, I will work with my team to connect with students on campus, pray for the school and student body, and support one another as we take on a world-changing challenge of drawing students to Christ.
We are also blessed to live with the team that is serving at Columbia University. Our two teams will come together to strengthen our resolve in mission and explore the many museums and sights of the Big Apple on the weekends.
On campus, I could be anywhere. On any typical day, I may be praying in the chapel, attending Mass, grabbing coffee with a student, leading a Bible study in a residence hall, or playing ultimate in Central Park with students and building authentic friendships. There is no "typical" day for a missionary. We are called to be radically available to students and invest in their lives.
Growing up in a faith-filled evangelical home, I was surrounded by the love of Jesus Christ. However, I had quickly learned in high school that the more I worked, the more I could receive praise and recognition for my actions. Instead of following the strong example of my parents towards virtue and prayer, I relied on my own actions and success for my self-worth. Quickly after entering college, I realized that the success I achieved was hollow and the more I sought to be successful, the more empty I became.
After a profound experience attending Mass for the first time, I fell in love with Jesus Christ present in the Eucharist. The experience radically transformed life by helping me to realize my identity is in God's love for me and not in my successes and failures. When I entered the Church at the Easter Vigil Mass in 2015, I felt a call to embrace mission work within the Church. It brings joy to draw men into a relationship with Jesus Christ and transform into the man that Christ is calling them to be.
College has been an amazing journey with phenomenal friends to guide my path towards Christ. As a missionary, I hope to be able to walk with men in pursuing a Christ-centered worldview through authentic friendship.
When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I've been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I'd be honored to share this mission with you.
