Where I serve

For my first semester as a campus missionary I served at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH. It was an amazing opportunity working with the college students on this campus. I was blown away by the love I received from them, and it was amazing being able to see the things God did to transform their lives. Unfortunately, in late September I suffered 2nd degree burns from a car seat heater. I have no feeling below my stomach and didn't realize the heater had been on. One of the burns opened up into a big wound and I was put on bedrest in October, which lasted through the rest of the semester. There were a lot of complications that came from this, and the tough decision to leave campus for a semester was made. I'm spending the Spring healing up and working for the missions department in Colorado, helping to improve the application process for students. FOCUS sends students on short term mission trips all over the world to share God's love and help the poor. I have already heard of many lives that have been changed by these trips, and I am excited to make it possible for even more students to have these life changing experiences.

My Story

While I was in college, my life was based on pursuing my own desires without any regard for the people around me. Hedonism was my driving force. I felt depressed, isolated, and made some poor decisions that almost led to my destruction. This is a common theme among college students nowadays, and is one of the reasons I have such a heart for reaching them with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Shortly after I graduated from the University of Minnesota, I was in a motocross accident that forever changed my life. I suffered a spinal cord injury and am now paralyzed from the belly down. Here are some before and after pictures from the day of my accident! That bubble on the left side next to my vertebrae is my aorta!

Because of this accident I started re-evaluating my life. Later, through reading scripture, a dream, and some help from a few key people, I had an encounter with Jesus Christ and my life was transformed. For the first time in years I had hope for a future. Now my goal is to bring that hope to others who are in similar situations. By introducing them to Jesus Christ and helping them to develop a relationship with Him, I hope to show them that their lives have purpose and meaning. There is no greater joy than having this relationship with Jesus! In His ministry on earth, Jesus humbled Himself to meet us on our level, taking on our humanity, and spent most of His time investing deeply in a few. I look to Jesus’ own example to find the best method of reaching the world. I hope to reach students through this ministry by using Jesus' example of investing deeply in a few.

Your Impact

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I've been blessed with the most amazing people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus. If you are interested in partnering with me, please let me know of the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. I'd be honored to share this mission with you.
