God has called me to serve college students at Missouri Science & Technology in Rolla, Missouri. This is year two that FOCUS will be at S&T.  And I’ll be in my fourth year as a missionary. Last year I was in Rolla and the previous two years I served at Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts. I am so glad to continue to grow deeper as a disciple of Christ this year on mission with friends!

Growing up in the great state of Michigan I was instilled with an appreciation for natural beauty, camping and spending time outdoors. I learned about God in Catholic school but did not really understand what it meant to live like and with Him in a relationship. I began to try to pray in high school, but I didn’t really know how to. I was still searching for more and knew that I wanted to be involved in my faith in college.

I immediately became a part of the Catholic community on campus and began to experience what it looked like to have friends who were not only learning about God but trying to live like him. I was invited to study the Bible for the first time and began to see and hear with new eyes who God is and who I am. I was taught how to pray with the scriptures and participated even more in the sacramental life of the church, by which Jesus is made present to us to share in his own divine life. My continued growth as a disciple of Jesus was inspired by great missionaries and friends who continued to put their relationship with Jesus first themselves and challenged me to do the same. Prayer slowly became more and more part of my daily habit and changed the course of my days and relationship with God.

The more I get to know Jesus in prayer, the more I seek to be like him, and receiving the call to be on mission with him was no different. I could see that over time my own life had been shaped and transformed by Jesus deep and infinite love for me. How could I not share this life changing truth of God’s great love with everyone I meet?! As a missionary I look to Jesus own example to share the news of the gospel to the world and I’ve been amazed by the many different people I have encountered in my time. It is truly a blessing to serve Jesus in this way.

When I answered the call to join FOCUS, I made the decision to rely on the spiritual and financial support of mission partners to help me through this mission. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing team of people who have journeyed with me as I serve on campus.
