Where I serve
God has called me to serve my first year as a FOCUS missionary at Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas! Go Ponies!! This fall I am very much looking forward to building authentic friendships with the students on this campus, introducing them to Jesus Christ and His Church, and empowering them to do the same with others. What a blessing it is to be given the opportunity to shape our future leaders for lifelong mission for the Lord!
Growing up in a Catholic family, I was fortunate enough to be raised in a home where faith mattered. As a young girl, I found myself falling in love with Jesus Christ. In the second grade, my love for the Lord only continued to deepen after being consumed by His love during my First Communion. That same day I remember telling my parents that it was "the best day of my life..."
However, as I entered into my high school years, my Catholic faith became less of a priority, and I found myself living a life centered on my social and academic status in school... My relationship with Christ only continued to worsen after watching my Uncle Kevin lose his battle with cancer during my senior year. I had never mourned the loss of a loved one before, and I saw my uncle's early death as a punishment from the Father. Thus, I really began to question my Catholic faith and my belief in God in general.
About five months after my uncle's death, my family received another set of hard news. My younger sister Anne Marie was diagnosed with cancer. Feeling helpless and afraid, instead of running away from God, I found myself running towards Him. After first recieving this news about my sister, I remember leaving my home and visiting my uncle's grave site. I cried out to God in prayer expressing my fears and heartache as well as asking Him where He was in all of this suffering... While this journey with my sister was not an easy one, it was through this experience that God answered my prayer and I encountered His love in a deep way... I saw Him through the strength and joy of my sick sister, the incredible generosity of others, and the daily miracles regarding the health of Anne Marie. Through these encounters and by developing a deeper prayer life, I encountered the love of Christ and found myself falling back in love with the Lord...
Upon entering into college at Missouri State University, I quickly befriended Catholic women in my sorority who were actively pursuing a relationship with Jesus and were heavily involved with FOCUS. Through these authentic relationships, the Sacraments and Mass, bible studies, and discipleship, I was able to further grasp the significant amount of love Jesus has for me. Through this love, my life was radically transformed, and I found my heart yearning for other college students to encounter His love.
As a FOCUS missionary, my deepest desire is to lead college students to Jesus Christ. I want nothing more than to share His love with students and to introduce them to the life-changing message of the Gospel!
Sharing the love of Jesus Christ with college students would not be possible without both the spiritual and financial support from mission partners. By relying completely on the generous support of others, this gives me the freedom to be radically available to the students on campus in need of my care. With that being said, I need people like you! If you are interested in partnering with me and/or hearing more about this mission, I would love to meet up with you in person or talk with you over the phone. Please let me know the best way to reach you and I will schedule an appointment. It would be an honor and a joy to share in this mission with you! God Bless!
